Independent Review of Your Claim

Next Steps

We want our customers to understand the process of submitting an insurance claim and the next steps in the review process.

Once you have submitted all documentation related to your insurance claim to GrandBridge Energy:

  1. We will forward your claim to the General Liability Claims Administration Unit of the MEARIE Group. The MEARIE Group is an organization that specializes in handling claims made against electric utility companies.
  2. An adjuster from the MEARIE Group will review your claim and if additional information is required, their adjuster will contact you directly.
  3. You will receive written correspondence advising the outcome of your claim directly from the MEARIE Group.

Please allow four to five weeks for a response from the MEARIE Group adjuster.

Frequently-Asked Questions

Once your claim has been sent to the MEARIE Group insurance adjuster, all inquiries must be addressed directly to the MEARIE Group. You can find their contact information on their website General Liability Claims Administration Unit of the MEARIE Group.

Under the terms of our insurance agreement, the MEARIE Group Insurance Adjuster makes all decisions as to the result of your claim. GrandBridge Energy cannot advise on the anticipated outcome of your claim.

We understand that sometimes customers have equipment that needs immediate repair or replacement. In this case, you must understand that you will proceed with repairs or replacements at your own risk. Whether the costs are covered or not depends on the decision of the MEARIE Group insurance adjuster.

As an alternative, you may wish to contact your home insurance company.

Under rules approved by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), GrandBridge Energy is not liable for damage claims involving power outages, low voltage or power surges caused by severe weather or other circumstances beyond our control; during repairs or routine maintenance, including meter exchanges; or during energy curtailment or blackout events.
