Important Documents to Read

GrandBridge Energy is pleased to help you energize your project. Before you get started, take a moment to read through these important documents that outline our servicing guidelines and specifications.

Technical Job Requirements

GrandBridge Energy will supply, install, own, and maintain all meters, instrument transformers, ancillary devices, secondary wiring, and seals required for revenue metering.

In accordance with Section 40 of the Electricity Act, the utility requires access to customer property to install, read, and maintain our metering equipment. We have specific requirements for metering equipment installation.

GrandBridge Energy reserves the right to refuse to energize any metering project that does not conform to these specifications and assumes no responsibility whatsoever for the cost of repairs or delays in energizing the system incurred if the specifications are not followed.

GrandBridge Energy has approved the installation of Meter Base Mounted Transfer Devices in the community.

These devices provide a standby power solution to homes in the event of a power outage in your area. They can make connecting your home to a backup generator safe and easy.

Please submit a service layout request for our Engineering Team’s review and approval before installing this equipment. To learn more about portable generator safety and certification requirements, visit the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) website.

A service layout is required to book this type of work.

Step 3: Layout is issued to the electrician or customer. *Layout can take up to three weeks to process*
Step 4: Contact Customer Service at 1-877-871-2215 to book the cut and hold appointment. No appointments will be booked with a signed waiver.
Step 5: On the install date, a GrandBridge Energy technician will disconnect the service. Once the device is installed and ESA passes inspection, the electrician or customer will contact Customer Service to request a reconnect. Any reconnect calls after 3:30 p.m. will be subject to an after-hours reconnect charge.

GrandBridge Energy crews cannot install plug in socket devices.

Service layouts are not required for new subdivisions.

Subdivision specifications are outlined in the Subdivision Servicing Materials & Construction Specifications manual.

*Important note to developers/contractors: Please ensure there is proper signage on the lots when GrandBridge Energy Inspectors visit the site for underground inspections. We require lot numbers and civic numbers to be posted on a sign or attached to the building.  Marketing numbers are not the same as civic and lot numbers, which can cause a delay in energizing the service if we cannot locate the correct lot. The civic number and lot numbers should match your submitted registered plan*

GrandBridge Energy cannot energize meters without a submitted and approved registered plan.

If you are completing any of the following work, a service layout is required to book an appointment with GrandBridge Energy crews:

  • Upgrading the amps or relocating the meter base at a property

  • Requesting a temporary service connection
  • Adding additional meters to an existing service **Detailed information on multi-unit projects available on the Service Layout page**

A minimum of two (2) weeks of lead time for isolation requests is required.
Please note that we require a minimum of two business days’ notice when you are cancelling an isolation request.
