Rates & Applications

Who is the Ontario Energy Board (OEB)?

As a Local Distribution Company in Ontario, GrandBridge Energy is regulated by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), a crown corporation responsible for overseeing the province’s electricity and natural gas sectors and all its participants.

GrandBridge Energy rates and services must be approved, through a complex hearing process, by the OEB. The OEB is also responsible for setting the prices for Regulated Price Plan electricity rates and approves the rates charged for distribution/delivery and transmission.

Active Applications

At any time, our utility may have one or more applications before the OEB, and may be participating in other OEB-sponsored proceedings. It is our responsibility to inform you about our regulator activities with the OEB.

Application for Funding for Non-Wires Solution Program (EB-2025-0265)

On December 1, 2025, GrandBridge Energy Inc. (GrandBridge Energy or GBE) applied to the Ontario Energy Board for approval of its Non-Wires Solution (NWS) Program.  The NWS Program proposes to procure 20 MW of capacity through an NWS capacity auction for three years (2026 to 2028), during which time a traditional infrastructure investment can be planned and constructed. The application requests OEB approval of NWS rate riders for the period May 1, 2026, through December 31, 2028, for the GBE(E+) Rate Zone, and deferral variance account. GrandBridge Energy submits that the NWS Program has a benefit-to-cost ratio of 1.97.   If the application is approved as filed, a GrandBridge Energy’s typical residential customer and a typical general service customer in the GBE (E+) rate zone (i.e., the service territory for the City of Cambridge, Township of North Dumfries and County of Brant) would see the following increase effective May 1, 2026.

Proposed Rate Increase May 1, 2026

Residential (750 kWh) $0.60 per month
General Service less than 50kW (2,000 kWh) $0.80 per month

OEB Renewed Regulatory Framework

GrandBridge Energy’s rate applications must demonstrate it supports the four (4) key objectives:

  • Customer Focus: services are provided in a manner that responds to identified customer preferences;
  • Operational Effectiveness: continuous improvement in productivity and cost performance is achieved; and the utility delivers on system reliability and quality objectives;
  • Public Policy Responsiveness: utility delivers on obligations mandated by government (e.g., in legislation and in regulatory requirements imposed further to Ministerial directives to the Board); and
  • Financial Performance: financial viability is maintained; and savings from operational effectiveness are sustainable.
