GridShare Capacity Auction Program

GridShare Capacity Auction Program

GrandBridge Energy’s GridShare program is helping shape a more flexible and resilient electricity grid by partnering with customers in Cambridge and North Dumfries who can reduce electricity demand during peak summer periods.

Through the program, participating businesses and organizations are financially compensated for lowering electrical load and/or activating behind-the-meter Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) between July and September 2026, helping reduce strain on the grid when demand is highest.

The registration and offer submission period for the 2026 GridShare Capacity Auction Program has now closed.

GridShare Program Receives Ontario Energy Board Approval

GrandBridge Energy’s Non-Wires Solutions Program, GridShare, received Ontario Energy Board approval on May 28, 2026. Selected and partially selected participants will receive next step instructions by email the first week of June.

How does GridShare Work?

1. Starting in mid-January 2027, customers can register through Gridshare’s external portal. GrandBridge Energy will review potential partner applications.

2. During the annual bidding window in March, partners submit their capacity-sharing bids for the peak periods during the program window.

3. GrandBridge Energy will review and select the most competitive bids, based on cost and grid needs.

4. Formal participant agreements will be executed between partners and GrandBridge Energy.

5. During high-demand peak periods (in the program window), a standby notice may be issued by GrandBridge Energy via email to participants prior to 7:00 a.m. EST on the day of activation.

6. GrandBridge Energy will notify participants that their capacity is required for up to four hours, with at least two hours’ notice, up to two times a month (activation notices). Note: activation notices will only be sent when a related standby notice has been sent for that day.

7. Participants will provide capacity to the grid by reducing their load and/or activating their DERs.

8. Participants reduce their load and/or activate their DERs, providing grid capacity.

9. Participants may choose to provide their capacity, beyond two times a month, for additional compensation, if called
upon by GrandBridge Energy.

10. Participants will receive payments at the end of the following month, based on the verified capacity delivered to the grid.
