GrandBridge Energy is helping build that workforce by investing in the next generation of skilled tradespeople and energy professionals through local post-secondary partnerships, student awards and hands-on learning opportunities.
Each year, GrandBridge Energy sponsors student awards at Conestoga College, the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Six Nations Polytechnic. These awards recognize academic achievement and support students pursuing careers in skilled trades, engineering and technology.
As Ontario’s electricity sector prepares for growing demand and increased electrification, attracting and developing skilled tradespeople and energy professionals will be essential to meeting the province’s future electricity needs.
GrandBridge Energy provides co-op and summer employment opportunities that allow students to gain practical, on-the-job experience while completing their studies. The company also supports hands-on skilled trades training, including donating decommissioned utility vehicles to Conestoga College’s Powerline Technician program.
For GrandBridge Energy, supporting students is also an investment in the future of the communities we serve. Ontario will need skilled, knowledgeable people ready to maintain existing infrastructure, support new technologies and continue serving customers safely and reliably as electricity needs grow and change.

CONESTOGA COLLEGE
GrandBridge Energy sponsors three annual awards recognizing academic excellence among students in Electrical and Engineering Technology programs at Conestoga College’s Brantford and Cambridge campuses. This year’s recipients are:
- Isabella Schiavone, GrandBridge Energy Electrical Techniques Excellence Award,
- Dharsan Gajjar, GrandBridge Energy Electrical Engineering Technology Academic Excellence Award, and
- Emily McClinchey, GrandBridge Energy Systems Engineering Technology Academic Excellence Award.
UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO
The GrandBridge Energy Green Energy Graduate Scholarship is awarded to a full-time graduate student enrolled in the Sustainable Energy specialization of the Master of Engineering (MEng) program. The scholarship recognizes academic excellence and a demonstrated interest in green energy, environmental sustainability and innovative energy solutions.
WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY
The C.D. Wilson GrandBridge Energy Scholarship is given to a top-performing student in the Business Technology Management program at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus. The 2025-2026 academic year recipient was fourth-year student Abdul-Arham Nairn.
SIX NATIONS POLYTECHNIC
GrandBridge Energy supports the We Are Welders Women’s Program with a bursary that provides financial support for up to four students as they complete in-class training at the Brantford campus and work placement experiences. The We Are Welders program is designed to equip women and non-binary students with the skills, knowledge and experience to increase their income and economic security. This year’s bursary recipients are: Heather Fairheart, Rebecca Gillis, Dakota Hamilton and Amelia Radcliffe.
